Wonderlings are tiny glimmers that appear when genuine wonder fills the air. They are not creatures. Not insects. Not magic. They simply are.
No one has ever counted them. No two have ever looked exactly alike. Some have antlers. Some have wings. Some have only one eye. Adults almost never see them.
You might see Wonderlings when a brave act is done, when a secret is discovered, when a story is being read, when the first rain falls, or when someone sees the beauty in something small.
✦ Wonder happened here. ✦
They gather when something beautiful is about to happen, not because they cause it, but because they noticed it first. They are never caught. They only appear when you are truly present in a moment of wonder.
Some creatures spend their whole lives searching for Wonderlings. Children usually do not have to.
